Fundraising Projects
Although PSFA receives a subsidy from the Department of Education's National School Nutrition Programme, this is only for 90% of the total amount of children fed. The difference is covered by PSFA, at a cost of more than R5million annually, from funds which have to be raised each year.
In order to ensure that this essential school feeding programme continues unhindered, PSFA embarks on a number of fundraising projects to meet this shortfall. Funds raised in the current year, are either spent in that year or will be allocated to specific projects in the following year.
PSFA's flagship fundraising event of the year is the annual Blisters for Bread Charity Family Fun Walk in partnership with GrandWest Corporate Social Investment. For more information on this fundraising project, click here .
Blisters for Bread School Events
PSFA also co-ordinates a Blisters for Bread School-based programme, whereby schools are canvassed to hold their own walk or similar event, in aid of PSFA. Every year, more than 100 schools across the province participate and help raise much-needed funds towards our school feeding programme. If your school would like to get involved, please contact our office for more information.
Adopt-a-School
PSFA provides school feeding to children in schools that do not receive the school feeding subsidy. We endeavour to harness support from individuals or companies that could like to cover the costs of a whole school for one year.
If you or your company would like to know more about our Adopt-a-School Programme or would like an updated list of schools 'Up for Adoption', please email us at info@psfa.org.za.
Adopt-a-Child
It costs PSFA R370 to feed one child every school day for an entire year. This cost relates to the actual expenses to feed one child. This is made possible because of our buying power advantage and our prudence and discretion in keeping costs to a minimum. Although we are not able to supply a specific photo/story of the child 'adopted', you are guaranteed that your donation is directed towards the actual cost of feeding one child for a year.
Individuals or companies and their staff that would like to participate in our 'Adopt-a-Child' programme can either donate online by visiting the secure Donate page on our website or make an EFT directly into our bank account. For more information on our 'Adopt-a-Child' programme, email us at info@psfa.org.za.
