A message from our director, Petrina Pakoe

Greetings from Peninsula School Feeding Association

As the end of the year draws near, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your amazing support during 2020.

The year 2020 started on a very positive note as our plans were in place to ensure that our school feeding programme would run as smoothly as possible…… and then the COVID-19 pandemic hit us.

PSFA immediately jumped in action to ensure that the learners on our feeding programme and their families continued to receive nutritious meals during the extended school holidays and the lockdown.

An emergency appeal for funding was sent out to all of you and thanks to your generosity, we managed to raise an outstanding R22 418 335.00.

100% of your donations were allocated to packing and distributing thousands of food parcels to various community centres and schools, providing nutritious ingredients to community kitchens for preparation and serving to members of the community, and we continued to serve cooked meals to the learners at our schools during the lockdown.

A challenge that we now face is the forthcoming extremely long school holiday, which takes place from December 15, 2020, until January 27, 2021.  We are very concerned about the many children that will go hungry during this time.

To address this serious problem, PSFA has identified a host of established community kitchens situated throughout the Western Cape where we wish to provide ingredients, so that these kitchens can prepare and serve complimentary daily breakfasts and lunches to the impoverished children and their families. It will cost PSFA R3.50 to provide one person with two meals per day.

We hereby appeal to you to consider making a donation towards this vital Community Kitchen Feeding Programme. A donation of only R100 will ensure that a child will receive two daily meals at a community kitchen for the duration of the 30 day long school holiday.

Donations can be made online at or by EFT into our bank account: Standard Bank of SA, account No.: 070894159, Swift Code: SBZAZAJJ, Account Type: Cheque, using the reference CKFP – your name and surname.

Another option of giving this festive season is, in lieu of purchasing Christmas gifts for family and friends, why not feed a child for a month at the cost of R62 or for a year at the cost of R450. This can also be done on our website.

In closing, on behalf of our Voluntary Committee, Management Team, Staff and especially the 1000’s of vulnerable children on our feeding programme, we once again thank you for your generous support during 2020 and hereby take this opportunity to wish you and your loved ones a happy and safe holiday season and joyous New Year.

Keep safe and healthy.
