Introducing our new director, Petrina Pakoe

The Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA) is delighted to announce the appointment of our new Director, Petrina Pakoe who joined us on July 1.
Born and raised in Cape Town, Petrina completed her schooling at Grassy Park High School and tertiary education in nursing at UCT and Carinus Nursing College. She worked in the medical profession for 12 years in South Africa, the UK and USA.
Petrina joined the NGO sector in 1999, working for various faith based community organisations. After volunteering for H.O.P.E. Africa (the development arm of the Anglican Church) for over four years, she became a full time staff member heading up the education and training department. During her 15 year tenure at H.O.P.E. Africa, she gained vast experience in fundraising, leadership development, gender justice issues, economic development, small business training and peace and reconciliation.
In 2011 she was seconded to the Diocese of False Bay to head up their department of social development as programme director. Here she played a pivotal role in initiating the successful Holiday Club programme, creating safe spaces for children during school holidays. She expanded this programme from an initial 1 500 children in 2010 to over 10 500 children in 2015.
Petrina is the South African international representative for the Community of the Cross of Nails, an organisation that works towards to peace, justice and reconciliation. She is a Trustee of GOAL (Giving Opportunities to Aspiring Leaders), an organisation that works with disadvantaged youth to develop to their full potential and a board member of Heavens Nest Children’s Home. Petrina is one of the founding committee members of the ‘We will Speak Out’ campaign in South Africa that addresses gender based violence.
Before taking up the position as director at PSFA, Petrina served on our board as a voluntary committee member for over 10 years, representing the Archbishop of the Anglican Church. Her dedication to school feeding stems from the fact that she was a beneficiary of our programme.
During her busy career, Petrina has also managed to find time to further her studies in social science, project management, social reconstruction, human resource management, to name a few.
On a personal note, Petrina is married to Randolph Jacobs and they have three daughters: Lauren, Sián and Skyler. In her spare time she enjoys adrenaline related activities such as bungee jumping, motorcycling and zipgliding. She also cannot live without her techno gadgets such as her tablet, laptop, iPod and cell phone.
The Board, Management and Staff at PSFA welcome Petrina and wish her a long, happy and fruitful stay with us.
