In celebration of World Food Day on Thursday 16 October, the PSFA staff prepared and served 1000 meals from our schools menu to hungry students and staff and the University of the Western Cape. We also set up a promotional stand and sold many ‘Lunch is on Me’ stickers for R10 each.
PSFA thanks Keyside Conferencing and Events along with a couple of students from St Georges Grammar School for their assistance in raising R1 522 by selling the ‘Lunch is on Me’ stickers.
While everyone was enjoying their lunch, our Fundraising Manager, Charles Grey publically addressed the media, students and dignitaries with a short talk on PSFA and about caring for each other by sharing a meal.
“Perhaps, if active citizens and business leaders, academia and organisations like Peninsula School Feeding Association stood together, local and global hunger can be something written about in the history books!” said Jacqueline Tamri, Communications Officer at the DST- NRF Centre of Excellence in Food Security.
